The Allen Shoup Memorial Fellowship honors Allen Shoup, who believed deeply in collaboration and community, working his entire career to promote Washington wine around the world. Allen played a leading role in developing Washington’s wine industry as the longtime head of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, and later as the owner of his own acclaimed winery, Long Shadows Vintners. Allen was instrumental in founding the Auction of Washington Wines and the Washington State Wine Commission. This fellowship is a collaboration between the Auction of Washington Wines, the Washington Wine Commission, the Washington Wine Industry Foundation, and the Washington Wine Growers Association.

Objective

To honor Allen’s legacy, the industry has created a fellowship for writers interested in learning about Washington wine. This fellowship will be awarded to one writer annually and fund a fully immersive experience in Washington wine country. The desired outcome will be published articles from the writer, who will also become a new ambassador for Washington vineyards and wines.

Goal

The goal is to raise $100,000 now to fund the fellowship for the next five years. Acknowledgment

All donors will be acknowledged on the Auction of Washington Wines and the Washington Wine Commission websites, listed in the Auction of Washington Wines Gala catalog and donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your consideration and continued support of the Washington State wine industry and one of its most influential leaders.
